The  3rd international Scientific Conference on Energy and Climate Change was successfully completed in Athens, October 7th and 8th 2010, at the Central building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece.

More than ninety (90) scientists participated, while fifty three (53) scientific announcements were presented, from twenty nine (29) countries.

During the Round Table discussion, at the end of the Conference, was presented the initiative of a “Strategic Green Alliance”, a strategic alliance for the green development, between the academic institutions of PROMITHEASnet and the business community of the Black Sea countries. As it was announced by the Secretary of Business Council of BSEC, this initiative has been approved from the Council and has started a planning of common activities with PROMITHEASnet, which is estimated to be funded at its primary stage from the Hellenic Fund of BSEC (HDF-BSEC).

Finally, during the Round Table was discussed the perspectives of creating a “green fund” of regional character, with aims to search and promote investment and trade opportunities, in the frames of the funding mechanisms of the post-Kyoto era (CDM, JI, ETS, etc).

The opening of the Conference, organized by PROMITHEASnet coordinator, the Energy Policy and Development Centre (KEPA) was addressed by the Rector of the University, Prof.  Theodosis PELEGRINIS, the representative of the Belgian Chairmanship in EU, Amb. Pierre VAESEN, the representative of Permanent Secretariat of BSEC, Mr. Konstantinos ZAIMIS, the Secretary of BSEC Business Council, Ms. Eftichia Bacopoulou and the representative of UNIDO – ICHET, Mr. Nikos LYBEROPOULOS, at the presence of representatives from the embassies of the BSEC countries, the Switzerland embassy and the embassy of the United States of America and the Conference’s participants.
